In November 2010, Parallel Lines and FIERCE collaborated to create a documentary about FIERCE’s West Village Walking Tours. Parallel Lines is a project led by six artists and writers concerned with how public space gets imagined, funded, inhabited, used and produced. And who gets to define public space and why.
Through a two-day shoot, Parallel Lines created a documentary about FIERCE that centers on our popular West Village Walking Tour - an activist tour and participatory retelling of the history of public spaces in the West Village. This tour was led by FIERCE youth members and staff. FIERCE members and staff were involved in the documentary-making process from start to finish, helping to shape the concept, feature in the documentary, and hold editing sessions with Parallel Lines.
Parallel Lines is a documentary and research project about the High Line and its surrounding neighborhoods, led by six artists and writers. They are: Michael Cataldi, David Kelley, Hans Kuzmich, Jens Maier-Rothe and Jeannine Tang.
